VHS and DVD Borrowing Policy

ALBION MUNICIPAL LIBRARY

VCR TAPE AND DVD BORROWING POLICY (9-2007)

PLEASE READ, SIGN, AND FILE AT LIBRARY

1. Patrons must have a signed copy of these policies, as well as a current information card, on file at the library. New patrons will be asked for some form of ID such as a driver’s license. Patrons under 18 years of age are required to have a parent or guardian’s signature.

2. Parents who give children permission to check VCR tapes/DVD’s assume the        liability for late fees, loss, or damage. Parents are also responsible for assisting   children in selection of appropriate titles. There are a variety of movies available, rated G. PG, PG-13, and R. The library staff does not censor a child’s selection of titles.

3. The loan period and limits are: 2 movies for two days when checked out on Monday or Tuesday and 3 movies may be kept thru the weekend if checked out on Wednesday or Thursday, unless otherwise stated. There will be a fine of $2.00 each for overdue VCR tapes/DVD’s. No one in the household will be allowed to check out movies until late fee is paid.

4. Patrons are responsible for returning VCR tapes and DVD’s in good condition. VCR tapes must be rewound. In case of loss, theft, or damage, the patron will be charged the replacement and processing cost of the movie. If there is a problem or the movie fails to operate correctly, please inform library staff upon return. The patron will not be held responsible for normal wear and tear during use.

5. Copy right laws limit “home use only” movies to home viewing only. It is clearly

illegal to duplicate any library VCR tape/DVD.
